Lights out

Or, Someone find me a bushel basket!

Just another photo post.

I’m slowly trying to figure out the settings on the digital SLR camera we bought nearly two years ago. It’s really overwhelming to me, so sometimes I just take 100 or so photos of some mundane item in my house. Like my favorite lamp, which sits on my favorite table.

It would be good if I could stop here. Just say, “OK, you’re learning about the f-stop and the shutter speed and all that other stuff, and one of these days you’re going to get it. Now turn off the computer and walk away.”

But no.

Instead I have to look at that photo and think, “What would happen if I threw some sort of uplifting message on the right?” I know it’s wrong, but I can’t help myself. And I end up with something like this:

And it would be OK if I could leave that alone. But I probably wouldn’t.

I would probably then say, “That is really stupid. Let’s take it in another direction.” And the next thing you know, I have something like this:

And from there it starts to really go downhill.

Tomorrow I’ll be responding to my husband’s guest post 20 things you may not know about me and letting people know which of his 21 statements about me is false. To do this, I need to tell a story about the early days of our relationship, and it’s a real humdinger. I’m surprised he’s letting this happen. Until then, here’s a fake post.

At least you’re trying! I’m using my DSLR as a 100% more expensive point and shoot! I think your photos are top-notch.

How did you keep your kids from eating those dangly crystal things? Or is that sort of a thing only a concern in my house?

Hey, way to get that one in focus! how is it you’re the one ‘favor-offering’ to get me to ghost write, yet in the end I’m the one double-favoring you on blogs? I get to tell my side of the story, btw.
